Sweet Summer News

Quite a bit has happened since I last posted on here. The main thing I’m most excited about is that I didn’t have to move to another town after all. My daughter decided it would be easier for her to relocate to this area since she is traveling quite a distance to work here. While she has to wait until her contract is up at her current apartment, just knowing I don’t have to trek across the state with all of my belongings is good news.

Looking for apartments made me realize that I want a larger apartment even though I’ll be staying in my same hometown. So, I found one. It’s only 3 miles from where I live now and I’ve been on a waiting list for months. It is the most sought after apartment complex in this town and I knew when I applied I’d be on a long waiting list.  What is appealing to me is that there are no upstairs and downstairs apartment so I won’t be above anyone nor will anyone be above me.  I can be patient when I have to be. It’s down to one other being ahead of me. I’m hoping this will be my forever home. I love that it’s walking distance to everything from the library to DG to restaurants.

Pros

Pets allowed
Playground for Abby
Painting classes and other arts and crafts activities I’d enjoy
Location, location, location
More room and storage
1 story
Quiet
Safe, neighborhood watch enforced
Private front porch and patio

Cons

I could get stuck in a middle apartment where there aren’t any woods to walk Peanut
3 times higher price wise than currently paying
I may not get a separate dining room

I just returned from a week + long vacation in Texas. My sisters, mom and I go every year and I take Abby because she is with me during the summers (grandchild). While we were there, a tropical storm started moving in so we ended up leaving early. After we arrived back home, the condo we stayed in which belongs to one of my sisters, was affected by the storm. They were just getting things back to normal after the hurricane hit. Now, there is more water damage as well as other issues. They just can’t catch a break there. I will upload all of my photos on travelsofwanderlust.com, asap.

I’ve turned another year older and it’s making me realize that there are still things I want to do with my life. Like going back to college to learn a new trade. I’d love to take a photography & video course and I’m currently looking into that. I think it could help me with my blogging an, maybe give me a little income on the side. Oh, snap.

Tata, we’re off to have some more summer fun today.

I’m such a beach lover and these photos are causing me to want to take another beach trip. I hope you get your apartment soon. It’s great that there is only one person ahead of you.

  2. The cost of the new place is the worst part but if money is not an issue it sounds great. I hope you get everything yo want done in your life because you don’t want to say what if.

  3. It’s always good to put the pros and cons down on paper like you did. It helps bring things into perspective. This is a big step in your life. I don’t like to overextend myself financially so I usually pick what makes the best financial sense.

I love how you listed the pros and cons. It’s such a great strategy when will he trying to find the best answer. The cost of the apartment and the possibility of getting stuck in the middle unit really makes this a hard choice.

  5. It sounds like you’re wisely balancing the pros and cons of a new apartment. I remember when I was looking for an apartment, it was hard to find the perfect place. At the end of the day, it was all about making a few compromises while still getting most of what I wanted.

  6. It looks like the Pros over shadow the Cons. It also looks like the perfect vacation home and home all together all year round.

I hope it is not the middle apartment.. Too much sounds on both sides and you never know who your neighbor is.. Best of luck

That is great news for you and a win for everyone involved. Moving is hard enough. Finding the right place with everything you need to even harder.

  8. Janet says:

Best of luck with your decision. I think it’s great to write down pros and cons but also we women sometimes have great intuition and go with our gut feeling.

  9. I love making a pros and cons list, and it seems like you’ve got some great pros. The cons list…the money, but if that’s not an issue, then great! However, I’m not sure I’d want to be stuck in the middle apartment.

  10. I am all about the beach and spending time by the water as well as sun. This is so relaxing and I can’t wait to visit our first beach trip as a family with our growing lil boy.

Good for you for finding a new apartment and planning out your goals. I hope the wait for the apartment isn’t much longer and it’s everything you’ve dreamed of!

  12. Whew I’d have a hard time moving to pay 3x more. That alone would make me stay where I’m at. Good luck in your potential move!

  13. Roch says:

It’s great that pets are allowed since there are many strict apartments that don’t really like to be bothered with these furbabies. A quiet and safe neighborhood is always a huge plus.

  14. I hope you find the best apartment and one that really fits all your needs! Looks like summer’s busy for you this year. It’s really nice that you guys had a lot of fun despite the storm. Sorry about your sister’s apartment though. I hope they get it all fixed in no time.

It can be so difficult to find housing that is pet friendly, that is a huge bonus in my books. The location sounds perfect, with walking distance to everything.

  18. You are never too old to go back to school or learn something new. I finally finished my bachelor’s degree when I turned 53; I’m learning underwater photography now. I love learning new things and have found so many new hobbies and interests in the last few years! Good luck to you!

Oh my gosh, it would be a dream to learn underwater photography. I love taking photos of nature as it is.

  19. I hope you find the perfect place to stay. I miss going to the beach. I can’t remember the last time we went. In the past few years, our holidays were more mountain or city orientated and not sea and beaches.

I move more than when I was single. Finding the right place to settle down can be stressful but once you find it. Its all worth it, the cost of living and the type of lifestyle we have are the two important things we consider before we decided this is it. Glad your find the place you can see yourself to be call your home.
