Where in the world have I been? Well, I don’t know where to start so I’ll just jump right in. I’ll start with my aching back…
Winter was hard on my back and left me bedbound for most of the time. When I could get up, I tried to keep my largest site, Shabby Chic Boho (https://shabbychicboho.com) going, because it is the site that keeps me financially stable.
And then, I broke, cracked, whatever you want to call it, a bone in my vertebra. I think the correct term is a contusion fracture of my spine. Now to remind you, I had failed back surgery in 2001. Since then, I’ve been permanently disabled. My bones crumble, such as did my lower spine when I had to have surgery. I broke the bone simply by getting up some kind of funky way. I could hear it crack and I was instantly in a lot of pain. So it was back to bed for me. Again, when I felt like I could get up, I worked on Shabby Chic Boho and kind of neglected my smaller sites that I use for blogging.
I’m healing, I’m happy to say. I still have days when getting up is a struggle but more often than not, I can get up for short periods of time. The good news is I’m going to be able to take a new shot once a year that will help strengthen my bones. That’s going to be a big relief because breaking my hip stays on my mind more and more these days. I go back for a follow up later this month and then I’ll be able to have the test to start taking the shots. So expect me to rock out this site in the coming months.
I found a handicap 1 story apartment and I’m happy to say I’ve settled in nicely, going on 9 months now. It is so much better for my needs. I don’t have to climb up on anything to reach my cabinets now, which was only increasing the chance of more broken bones. I have plenty of stability now, getting in and out of my tub. It’s a 3 bedroom, 2 bath apartment and as you might remember, I live alone. But, it’s the only one they had and I was able to fix up a room for the granddaughters and one for grandsons when they come to visit. You can follow along with me at Apartment 8A (http://apartment8a.com). Go check it out. It’s not fancy but it’s cozy IMO.
It feels great to be back posting on this site. More soon.
