Winter Houseplant Haul #3

Winter Houseplant Haul #3

This is my last winter houseplant haul for the week and after I post it I plan to do some packing. More news on that later :).

I really did go a little overboard with houseplants this winter because I’ve really had a hard time managing my pain. Plants are healing to me and with love and care, they can last a lifetime so I think it’s a good investment any time of year. They just make me happy and when I look around and see them everywhere, it’s a cozy feeling. My mom has a green thumb and she’s always had the most beautiful plants so I’ve always been surrounded by houseplants.

Today I have 7 I’m going to share with you. Total: $87.74.

This curly whirly cactus caught my eye at Home Depot and I had to have it. It was $16.05 including tax and came in the ceramic pot. I do not like the new way company’s ship some plants now at Walmart & Home Depot, with glue and rocks, it keeps the dirt from coming out but it doesn’t do much for the health of a plant. At some point, I’ll have to bust up the rocks and re-pot this. I’m not looking forward to that because this little guy is really prickly.

This next plant I also bought at Home Depot and it was on the clearance shelf for $3.20 including tax. I put it in a bigger plastic pot I have but I will be transplanting it in a ceramic pot at a later date. For now, it’s doing really well. I love the different shades of green on the leaves. I have no idea what it is but I’ve seen a lot of these around. All of my winter houseplant haul plants I bought in December or this month. This one has new growth starting around the base.

This next plant I purchased on Amazon and the leaves are a little bit rowdy from the shipping. It’s so easy to care for. I water it once a week and am keeping it small like a bonsai because I love the way it looks. I will buy a bigger one at some point to see how large they actually get. It’s a Sago Palm. It came in the cute ceramic pot shown in my photos. Price: $14.50 + $4.49 shipping.

This white rabbit fern is the one I’m most excited about that I purchased this week. It arrived Wednesday and I’m still trying to dry it out. They drenched it before mailing it. At the time I purchased it, the seller had free shipping on all of her products but now charges a hefty shipping rate so I’m glad I bought mine when I did. I am not trying to be cheap but I have moving expenses coming up. Again, more on that later *bouncing off my seat with excitement*. Price: $7.

This next plant is a Fiddle Leafed Fig, Ficus Lyrata tree and I’m trying to baby it back to life. I’m killing it I think :(. I have a bad habit of dumping water on top of the plants and I think that’s making the leaves die. I’ve since started watering directly into the soil and hope that will help it. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. I plan to repot this soon but haven’t found a planter I like yet. I repotted into this bigger pot when it arrived. $7.99 + $5.99 shipping.

And, yet another one I seem to be killing is a Dwarf Pomegranate Tree which is another Amazon score. I purchased two of these and wanted to see if they’d do better outdoors or in so I put one in each location. We had snow for the first time this year in so long I can’t even remember having snow here. So, outdoor one died and I’m killing the indoor one. I think it just needs to be repotted so I’m going to replant it today in the clay pot the outdoor one was in. Wish me luck. I’ll still have to buy another one to cross-pollinate them. They are so tiny even when fully grown. $7.99 + $5.99 shipping.

I’m adding the below and last one even though it’s not arrived yet. It will be my last plant I purchase this winter I believe. Or maybe not. I’m already mad at myself for buying all of these before moving instead of after I get settled in, lol. I have so many heavy plants to move and all of these just makes for more achy breaky back work. It’s a Thinkers Ceramic Vase with Living Air Plant, I found it on Amazon and I just thought it was so cute. There are all different colors and poses but they were out of all but this one at the time. I love that it’s an air plant because those are the easiest ones to grow, lol. $7.99 + $6.55 shipping.

Update: My Thinkers purchase arrived and it is DOA. I removed the link to it because I do NOT recommend this plant/vase. The air plant is glued in and try as I might I can’t even get it out to add a live one. What a mess.

So, which of these plants are your favorite? Or, do you have a favorite houseplant you own and if so, what’s the name of it so I can look it up?

If you have a YouTube and want to subscribe to my new channel, I’d love that. I plan to do a lot of vids of moving and decorating, etc. Just fun stuff.

Spread the love
